Rivalries

Last week I stopped in at a high school at which I didn't have the most pleasant experience the year before. They only do lunch room visits and this is where a kid started yelling at the end of lunch that he wasn't going to apply at UM because we believed in abortions. After quickly scanning the list of concentrations we do offer I found none titled or resembling that of abortions. Til this day I have no idea what that kid was talking about.

Fast forward a year later I stopped in to say hi and drop off some new material. I got a bit of a ribbing from the two secretaries in the main office for being a rep of UM. I kept it professional but one had attended osu (lowercase on purpose!) and the other had attended MSU. So OK haha. Jokes at my expense. But then I learned that the principal went to UM. Oh sweet irony. And that's what we like to call The Michigan Difference.

Good intentions. Poor delivery

These posts are all about those small wins. The one little thing that can just make your day. I will start this one with a comment I overheard at a recent fair.

I was just finishing setting up my table at the Lake Superior State University college fair when a representative from LSSU told me where I could find the snack room. Then she told the gentleman from the United Air Force Academy where to go but in different words. Now this gentleman was no young buck. He was quite old and very past retirement   so I couldn't quite believe it when I heard the lady telling the well aged gentleman that in order to get to the snacks to just follow the bright white light. I think the last thing an elderly person wants to be told is to follow the bright light.
